A Wily Character - Advanced Rule 01: Guile Stat [version0.1]
LOGIC: The base game and Adventurer's Companion offers little in the way of traditional dungeon crawl searching for treasure and generally poor stealth and trap mechanics.
CONCEPT: Introduce a new Guile Stat per character that enables searching and other mental or judgement based gameplay to be tested against with a dice roll in keeping with core gameplay. mechanics.
An additional aim is to enhance the use of some of the lesser combat-based Professions (e.g the Thief).
RULE TYPE: Advanced (custom)
Guile is a proposed new statline entry that encompasses a characters natural ability in "intelligence, perception, charisma, intimidation, secrecy".
It features a baseline value for each Race with a modifier defined for each Profession (Class).
Guile v0.1 will primarily be used with a proposed new Search action (see my next Concept & Ideas post) to enable the searching of dungeons for loot and base the Search criteria on a character stat.
e.g. A character with more Guile has a better chance of searching the area thoroughly and finding something interesting.
The Guile stat represents the number of d6 that a character can roll to perform a Search action.
Note: A value of Guile = 1 means only 1d6 is rolled and it does not adhere to the minimum dice roll of 2d6 in the core rules.
